Course Marketing

Good course marketing ensures that the people enrolled in your course are the people who will complete your course.

The first step in creating a connection between learners and your training program at this stage is to present them with a vision of themselves that could exist if they complete the course. This requires having a deep understanding of your potential learners’ motivations and challenges and demonstrating how your course fits into these.

If someone is not aligned to that vision for themselves, then this is not the course for them and the likelihood is that it would be hard for them to maintain their engagement and to complete the course in the long run. Getting high intake numbers is not worth it if it does not lead to high engagement and course completion in the long-run.

Course marketing does not just happen at the start of the course. If you want to keep learners engaged throughout, you will need to ensure that their motivation is renewed throughout the course. Adult learning requires learners to not just commit to the course but usually to sacrifice other things from their busy schedules. Ensuring that learners make the choice to continue with their course right until the end means supporting their decision-making throughout the course.

The most important factor in course marketing is delivering on what you promise. In other words, demonstrating proof that the vision that you laid out in your marketing can be a reality. To make sure that this is the case, planning for course marketing runs concurrent to course design and development.
